About Our Parish

Established in 1951, our beloved church has served as a regional parish center, nurturing the growth of faith across numerous surrounding communities. In 1985, we embarked on the construction of our current church, strategically located near the crossroads of US Hwy. 421 and NC Hwy. 115. Under the guidance of Fr. John Schneider, our dedicated parish building committee worked tirelessly to complete the beautiful structure in early 1989. Bishop John F. Donoghue presided over the momentous dedication ceremony on April 7th that year, marking a new chapter in our congregation's spiritual journey. In this era of transformation and renewal, we are committed to fostering a deeper connection to our faith and one another, striving to become a truly evangelizing community within the Wilkes area. Here at St. John's, we are filled with optimism for our parish's future, placing our trust in God's divine grace to bless and guide our collective efforts.
